Shocking Send Off for Bomer!
Which came first? Guiding Light's decision to make Ben it's elusive serial killer...or portrayer Matthew Bomer's decision to leave the show? Soaps In Depth offers an inside look at the finale of GL's murder mystery/
The In Depth Story: As revealed in this issue's GL In Depth preview, Matthew Bomer plays an integral role in this weeks climax to The Garden Of Eden murder mystery, As Ben is exposed as the Culprit. But how did GL settle on Holly's mild mannered stepson as their scapegoat in this tale?
The answer depends on whom you talk to. According to a setsider, Bomer's flirtation with the big screen role of Superman started a domino affect, as GL anticipated losing the hunk to the blockbuster remake and penciled in Ben as the killer early on. When the Superman gig fell through the source says GL briefly considered changing course, but opted to stick to the original plan of having Ben be guilty--and thus leave Bomer without a job.
Bomer's res, though scoff at any suggestion that the actor was caught off guard by the serial killer plot development. "His contract was over" regardless says his new manager.
What's next for the almost-Superman? "Nothing is definite," says his rep. "He's staying in New York for now, auditioning for projects. But he is finished at GL."
In fact Bomer lasts airs this week, as Ben pays a huge, and shocking price for his sins.
